From Back Cover:
"Ladies & Gentlemen, Mr. Leonard Cohen.  Produced by the National Film
Board of Canada, the 1965 black-and-white documentary "Ladies And Gentlemen:
Mr. Leonard Cohen" is an enjoyable and historically valuable look at the man
at the point after which he'd attained success as a writer, but before
he'd started his much more internationally renowned musical career.
It's not without it's flaws:  the clips of Cohen going about his everyday
life (waking up in his hotel room, writing at his desk, going to a bar,
etc.) have a slightly staged boldness, something that could also be
said of the voiceover narration (not by Cohen).  However, you're also
able to see what seem to be relatively honest, straightforward segments
of Cohen wittily discussing his life and art.  Best of all, there are lengthy
clips from a live reading of Cohen's prose -- some of the passages
funny enough to suggest Cohen could have had a career as a comedian
had he wished -- as well as briefer glimpses of him reading and discussing
his work on radio and television.  There's even a home party scene at
which he plays a bit of music, though it gives the impression that music
was at that point a side hobby rather than a serious vocation.
